Child Support Unit

The Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Child Support Unit acts as the legal counsel for the Tuscaloosa County Department of Human Resources (DHR).  The Unit works in conjunction with DHR to establish & enforce child support orders and to prosecute deadbeat parents for failure to pay child support.  The unit is made up of a director, two Deputy District Attorneys, and support staff.

The services of the Child Support Unit are available to all residents of Tuscaloosa County who qualify through the Department of Human Resources.  The unit also assists custodial parents residing outside of Tuscaloosa County in enforcing child support orders against parents living in Tuscaloosa County.

 If you or someone you know needs assistance in establishing or enforcing a child support order, contact the Tuscaloosa County Department of Human Resources at (205) 554-1100.  The DHR Child Support Services office is located at 3716 12th Avenue E, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.  Once approved by DHR, a child support case is then referred to the Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Child Support Unit for appropriate legal action.
