Assistant District Attorney Bios

Jonathan Cross  Chief Assistant District Attorney

Jonathan Cross is from Russellville, Alabama and graduated from Russellville High School.  He received a B.S. in Speech Communication from The University of Alabama in 1989; and, his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1993.
Jonathan is married to Carol Ann Vaughn-Cross and has two children.  He enjoys kayaking and mountain biking with his family.

 

Hunter Brown  District Court

Hunter D. Brown is from Prattville, Alabama and graduated from Marbury High School.  He received his B.A. from The University of Alabama in 2013 with majors in Political Science and Criminal Justice; and, received his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2016.
Hunter enjoys the outdoors, exercising, hunting, and Alabama Football.

 

Mark D. Caraway  Grand Jury

Mark is from Slocomb, Alabama and graduated from Slocomb High School. He received his B.S. in Social Sciences from the University of Montevallo in 2002; and his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law in 2006.
Mark is married to Lyn Head and has two step-children attending high school in Tuscaloosa County.  Mark enjoys woodworking.

 

Beth Byrne Crutchfield  Second Chance (Diversion Program)

Beth was born in Tuscaloosa and raised in Brewton, Alabama where she graduated from T.R. Miller High School.  She graduated cum laude from Troy University with a Bachelor’s Degree from Troy University in 1994.  She received her J.D. from The University of Alabama in1999.
She is married to Chris Crutchfield and they have one daughter who attends American Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa.  Beth enjoys her two dogs as well as painting and reading.

 

Paige W. Elliott  Director–Child Support Unit

Paige is from Winfield, Alabama and graduated from Winfield City High School.  She received her B.A. in Political Science from The University of Alabama in 1992; and, received her J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1995.
Paige has two children, one enrolled in the Tuscaloosa County School System and one in college studying Nursing.  Paige is active in the Church of the Highlands; and, volunteers for No Greater Love Rescue and Alabama Society for Prevention and Cruelty to Animals (ALSPCA).

 

Sarah Folse  Circuit Court

Sarah was born in Huntsville, Alabama. She received a B.A. in English from The University of Alabama in 2008, and her J.D. from The University of Alabama in 2011.
Sarah is a member of the Junior League of Tuscaloosa and Christ Episcopal Church. She enjoys cooking and exercising with her husband, Mark.

 

Kate Furek  Circuit Court

Kate is from Dresden, Ohio and graduated from Tri-Valley High School. She received a B.A. in Gender & Women’s Studies from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2008, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Baltimore in 2014. She then received a J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2017.
Kate is married to Will Nevin, a Tuscaloosa native. They live in Tuscaloosa with their four cats. She enjoys watching live baseball and basketball, running and playing the piano.

 

Erin Hardin  District Court

Erin is from Wedowee, Alabama and graduated from Randolph County High School.  She received a B.S.  in Criminal Justice from Troy University in 2013; and, received her J.D. from The University of Alabama in 2016.
Erin enjoys weightlifting and horseback riding.

 

Sarah E. Holland  Circuit Court

Sarah was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama where she graduated from Gadsden City High School.  Sarah received a B.A. in Communications from the University of Alabama in 2011, and, her J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2014.
Sarah enjoys hiking, Alabama football and playing with her dog Bella.

 

Travis T. Juneau  Circuit Court

Travis was born in Everett, Washington. He was  raised in Marysville, Washington, where he graduated from Marysville Pilchuck High School. Travis received a B.S. in Political Science from Mississippi College in 2013 and his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2017.   Travis attends Northport Baptist Church and enjoys tinkering with old cars, competitive marksmanship, and cheering for Alabama football and gymnastics.   Travis’ wife Elizabeth is a 7th Grade Science teacher.  They have one child, a daughter.

 

Shannon D. Lynch  Juvenile Court

Shannon was born in Paducah Kentucky and raised in Daphne, Alabama.  She graduated from Fairhope High School. She received a B.A. in Political Science in 2001 from The University of Alabama in Huntsville; and, her J.D. at the University of Alabama School of Law in 2004.  Shannon is active in local theatre and enjoys community service and volunteer work in Tuscaloosa. Her favorite service includes The Animal Shelter, Habitat for Humanity and working with the elderly.

 

Kayleigh Mohler  Circuit Court

Kayleigh attended Ball State University where she was an active Alpha Chi Omega and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Business Economics and Political Science in 2013. She then moved to Tuscaloosa where she earned her J.D. in 2016 at The University of Alabama School of Law. There, she participated on the University’s National Trial Advocacy Competition teams and was a member of the Federalist Society, the Criminal Law Society, and earned the Order of Samaritan award for Outstanding Service to the legal profession and the State of Alabama.
She enjoys watching football, reading, and kickboxing.

 

Loren A. Rafferty Circuit Court

Loren was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Powder Springs, Georgia, where she graduated from Allatoona High School.  Loren received a B.A. in English from Emory University in 2014, and, her J.D. (magna cum laude with a Certificate in Public Interest Law) from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2016.  Loren enjoys drawing, painting, shooting and fishing with her husband, Christopher and her dad, and spending time with her family & two dogs.

 

Gillian Richard  Child Support Unit

Gillian is from Gurley, Alabama and graduated from Madison County High School. She received a B.S. in Communications from The University of Alabama in 2014; and, received a J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2016.
Gillian is engaged to be married to Jaron Kelley in September of 2017.  Gillian enjoys traveling abroad to participate in mission work and serving locally as a coordinator for service projects like Walk4Water and M.A.G.I. through Healing Hands International.

 

Eddie Sherlock  Circuit Court

Eddie was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. He received his B.S.  in Government from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1984, and received his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1989.
He enjoys spending time with his wife Angela.
