The Bad ChexTuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Worthless Check Unit (WCU) was established in January of 1985. Prior to that time, victims of worthless checks were required to go through a long and inefficient process in order to prosecute an individual who’d presented them with a worthless check.
The Restitution moneyRecovery Unit (RRU) was formed in 1998 for the purpose of monitoring, tracking, and collecting restitution owed by convicted offenders to victims of crime. Since the office was established, over $6,721,000.00 in restitution, fines and court costs has been collected by the RRU.
